Book of Dragons

Created by Robert Burke

Book of Dragons is not just a card game, but a game system. It includes a deck of large, tarot-sized cards, beautifully illustrated by world-renowned artist Kerem Beyit. Think of it as a modern deck of playing cards, but instead of playing poker, blackjack, and other traditional card games, a host of designer games utilizing a plethora of modern design mechanics can be played.

Latest Updates from Our Project:

Post-Campaign Update #2 - BackerKit Surveys
over 6 years ago – Wed, Jan 03, 2018 at 11:53:02 PM

Hey there Book of Dragons backers!

We hope everyone had a wonderful holiday season. Just a very quick update for you on what's next.

Sometime either before the end of this week or early next week we will be sending out surveys to you via BackerKit to collect shipping information and allow you to add games.

We'll give you another heads up when those go out, but it's very important that when they do get there, you fill those out immediately. To repeat from last update, If you don't fill those out, we will have no idea where to send your game to when it's ready and if you're an international backer your shipping costs may increase if you miss the deadline. You'll have a few months to update your shipping addresses and finalize exactly what you want to have.

Currently rules for games are being finalized and laid out properly. We also want to make sure the deluxe boxes live up to expectations, so we'll be polishing up the design on that a bit as well. Once that's done, we'll be able to move forward with production. As far as timing, we appear to still be on pace to fulfill everything on time or possibly early.

Add-On Games

I mentioned earlier that there will be add-on games available for backers of this project for those interested.

We've included Draco Magi, its expansion and a deck of dragon playing cards featuring art from the same artist featured in Book of Dragons. There's also copies of some of our hit titles, Deception: Murder in Hong Kong, Champions of Midgard and Rising 5: Runes of Asteros available at discounted prices. Those are available to anyone who pledged a retail version or higher.

Additional copies of Book of Dragons are also available to Deluxe pledge level backers at prices referenced on the Kickstarter page itself.

Thanks again for supporting the project! If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to us at [email protected].

Post Campaign Update #1 - What's Next
over 6 years ago – Thu, Dec 28, 2017 at 02:36:01 PM

Hey Book of Dragons backers,

First off, thank you so much for the strong support you showed this campaign! We're excited to see the passion you have for this unique project and it's our goal from here to make sure you have a game system worthy of that passion.

We figured you'd be looking for an update on what's next in the process. The big next step is going to be sending out the pledge manager. We'll be operating through BackerKit, but as you can imagine, getting things set up during the holiday season can take a little longer than normal. Some of us will be travelling for Christmas, others won't but won't necessarily be in the office.

At this stage we're expecting to have everything ready on the pledge manager end the first week of January. As the first note of many on this topic, when you receive those pledge managers please fill them out as soon as you possibly can. If you don't fill those out, we will have no idea where to send your game to when it's ready and if you're an international backer your shipping costs may increase if you miss the deadline.

At that time, we'll also have a better status report on where the game sits and other timing info.

On a separate note, if you have questions about the Kickstarter, the best way to get an answer is to email [email protected] with any questions. As we are a collaborator on the project, we don't see messages sent to the campaign page itself.

That's all for now. Please enjoy the holidays with those you care about and we'll talk again soon!

Box Upgrades UNLOCKED - Final Day
over 6 years ago – Thu, Dec 28, 2017 at 02:35:32 PM

Hey there Book of Dragons backers!

We're well inside of the last day on the campaign. Based on where we're at we're pleased to say that there's been a....

New Stretch Goal Unlocked

Both the retail version and deluxe version of Book of Dragons will be getting upgrades! It should give both boxes a little more of a premium feel even above what they already would have had.

At this late hour, we don't have another stretch goal for you.... all we have is our thanks for the strong support you've shown for this project during the course of the campaign. We're excited to make it a reality in the coming months!

All the best,

48 Hours Left - A Recap
over 6 years ago – Thu, Dec 28, 2017 at 02:34:57 PM

Hey Book of Dragons backers!

We're officially into the last 48 hours of this campaign. Thank you so much for the support you've shown so far. As a lot of people get alerted at this mark, here's a recap of what's been unlocked heading into the final two days.

The big news is the offering of a Deluxe edition of the Book of Dragons. This version will have premium, upgraded cards and come in a special "book" box large enough to hold two decks of cards as well as the rules for all of the games.

Stretch Goals

This campaign has also unlocked a number of stretch goals including four additional rules videos for Book of Dragons games created by Dan King - The Game Boy Geek.

The retail and tuck box versions also received a card quality upgrade once we hit $30K.

There's still one big stretch goal left that will upgrade the boxes of both the retail and deluxe editions of the game.

With your help spreading the word in these final hours, this is a goal that's certainly within reach!

Thanks for your strong support and let us know in the comments if you have any questions in these final hours.

New Upgraded Box Stretch Goal!
over 6 years ago – Fri, Dec 22, 2017 at 02:33:58 PM

Hey there Book of Dragons backers!

First off, thank you so much for all of the support in these past few days! You've certainly shown us that the Deluxe edition was something worth making and we appreciate all of the suggestions to make it better. Because of all of that support, we've unlocked a stretch goal to increase the quality of cards included in both the tuck box and retail versions. Now there's a new goal on the horizon....

New Stretch Goal

You've already shown us that you enjoy upgraded components, so we did some checking and found that it would be possible to take the boxes of the Deluxe and Retail versions of this game and kick them both up a notch.

For the Deluxe version, we'll be using gold foil on all copies to make them really stand out on your shelf.

For the retail version, we'll be using Spot UV to give the dragon a more premium feel.

This one unlocks at $40K and we only have a few days left in the campaign. If you're interested in seeing these upgrades, please spread the word!

More Deluxe Box Specifics

There have been a couple of questions about the deluxe box itself. So here are a few answers...

1) Will the box have a magnetic lid? Yes

2) Will the box be able to hold both decks sleeved? Yes

As always, feel free to ask any questions in the comments on this update and we'll do our best to answer them.

Thanks again for supporting the project!
